How do I get my certification/take the examination?

How do I renew my certification?

To renew your certification you will need to take the examination. In some areas, continuing training hours are required.

How long is my certification good for?

The food manager certification is good for up to five years. Check with your local health department or regulatory agency to see how often recertification is needed in your area.

Does the certificate have a state seal?

In some areas you may have to take the National Registry certificate to your local health department or regulatory agency to obtain a local license, stamp or card.

How do I get a reprint of my certificate?

Fill out a Reprint Request/Information update form and fax in or mail with payment. The cost is $19 to reprint a certificate.

If I pass the examination, does this entitle me to use the letters FSP after our name in a professional context?

Yes, as long as your certificate is valid. If you do not retest after the five-year period, then you can no longer use the initials.
