We are pleased to announce that our Food Safety Manager Certification Examination and International Certified Food Safety Examination has been developed using a new exam blueprint. The new exams will be released beginning on February 3, 2020. This new exam blueprint will ensure that our exams provide you with the most valid testing experience possible.
Why did the blueprint change?
To ensure that our exams are up-to-date and highly relevant to you or your employees, we periodically conduct a job task analysis (JTA) for Food Safety Professionals. The purpose of this JTA is to identify all the important knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) required to function competently as a Food Safety Professional. These KSAs are used to create an outline (or blueprint) and the questions for the exams.
From February 26 – 28, 2019, we conducted such a JTA. This JTA was facilitated by professional credentialing experts Professional Testing, Inc., and involved the participation of 10 subject matter experts (SMEs), who represented diverse interests related to food safety such as the retail food industry, regulatory, and academia.
The SMEs determined that the industry had changed significantly enough since the previous JTA and that a new JTA and exam blueprint were warranted. The SMEs completed this work. After the new JTA and exam blueprint were developed, the blueprint was submitted to a large sample of SMEs nationally for feedback to ensure that it met expectations nationally.
We are confident you will find that the new exam blueprint further enhances the quality of the exams. You can view it here.
